Rush Limbaugh's hypocrisy

Of course, you have heard this news. On Monday, Rush Limbaugh was stopped at the airport because of a vial of Viagra in his suitcase in someone else's name. The press reports focused on whether this was a violation of his parole on drug charges.

Not one asked the question: What was Rush doing with Viagra? Now, that may seem like an obvious question, but this is the man who in 2004 wrote a column called, "Close Your Fly, You Won't Die." This is a man who says that one of his 35 truths is "Abstinence protects against STDS and pregnancy - every time it's tried." This is a man who supports abstinence-only-until-marriage education that teaches that sex only belongs in marriage, the program that says that sex in marriage is the "expected standard of human sexual activity."

The news reports also haven't mentioned that Rush is divorced -- three times -- or that he is single today. So, if Rush is using Viagra for the same reason other men use Viagra, does that mean...? You bet. So much for expected standards. So much for living according to the values you espouse in the public square. If I was Rush's minister, I'd want to talk to him about how it's important to make sexual decisions consistent with your personal values.

But this is what I really want to know -- did they find an equal number of condoms in his suitcase? Because, Rush, if you aren't going to be abstinent, they are the only thing that are going to protect you.

Great site. My great passion is personal development and hypnosis and was wondering if you would like to take a look at my site subliminal messages?

Ok - Here's the real question: WHO WOULD HAVE SEX WITH RUSH LIMBAUGH?? Perhaps he even finds himself so repugnant that he uses the Viagra when he's by himself!

Are we not assuming two things: 1) Rush could get a date; and 2) one must have another person involved to enjoy the benefits of Viagra.

Roy Black seems to be able to keep this drug addict out of jail but is he also a pimp? I don't see how else Rush would have a need for Viagra. Despite his celebrity and millions three women have told him to hit the road. When will he be held accounatable for representing the ultra conservative wing of the Republican Party while emulating our last President in his actions?

Well if your going to go and imply things from the fact that he was carrying viagra, why not go the full nine. He was coming back from the Dominican Republic, which while has some great cigar factories, also specializes in sex tourism.

What I want to know is where the rest of Rush's "date kit" was, because for him to even be able to put the Viagra to use, there MUST have been some GHB or other "date" drug around somewhere.

You might also ask why he was bringing a bottle of Viagra to the Dominican Republic, a notorious spot for sexual tourism.

That's one way to get around the difficulty of getting a date, I suppose -- just buy a third-world prostitute. Could Rush be a closet libertarian?

Ah, "hypocrisy"! The favorite charge of libertines.

So what? Just because you are a hypocrite does not mean that what you assert is false or what you praise is bad.

Moreover, Rush has never been a moralist on sexual issues. He doesn't argue for chastity from a religious perspective. He's not a member of the "religious right" by any stretch of the imagination. Rather, most of his comments - particularly those related to sex education - are targeted at the sexual practices of young people. You don't have to be a devoted member of a religious group to understand that sex can be very dangerous to teenagers and young people, both in terms of disease and emotional damage. It's possible to build a persuasive case for premarital chastity strictly on practical grounds, without once mentioning God. Few of those arguments apply to someone in his 50s who already has been married.

And it takes several inferential leaps to say anything about Limbaugh's sex life. For all anyone knows, that Viagra could have been prescribed two years ago, when he was married, and been in his bag ever since. I find all sorts of stuff in my luggage all the time.

ahh patriotism, last refuge of the scoundral...

any more biting aphorisms that obscure the truth, adam my lad?

you don't have to be a libertine to be disgusted by the whole sordid, disgusting scene created by limbaugh and his "dittoliods", and this is without having to dumpster dive into the creepy disarray of his sad, sad personal life. Only a fool or a rationalizing repub isnt repelled by rank hypocracy

However, the main sin of limbaugh is his disguised hatred and intolerance; the engine of his rhetoric which is mispresented as sticking up for truth, honor, and the american way

Limbaugh's personal problems are important not to show he's morally hypocritical; he proves that every time he speaks, its only to present the typical so-called conservative; a sorry, and inadequate beast.

The answer to why Rush Limbaugh needs with Viagra is a no-brainer. He needs it to sustain his perpetual hard-on about all things liberal.

As far as Rush goes, he stepped into this mess himself, he can defend himself...his hyporcrisy in the message he says to what alledgedly does is clear to all no matter what side you are on.
I think the problem I am having here is that the message is being killed with the messenger. Say what you will about Rush, but abstinence does work everytime. Couple that message with real sex and birth control education, and we are on the right track to reducing teen pregnancy.

But as a married father of three, I have to admit: any dude caught with the Blue Pill with get a laugh out of me. And the day I need to use the Blue Pill, shoot me!

Maybe the things he says aren't really his personal values but because he is a noted voice of conservativeism he feels obligated to feed the RR frenzy while "doing his own thing". I grew up with a father who used to say "do as I say, not as I do" which taught me what hypocricy was early. Though I did hear that the place he went to was known for child prostitution... that should give us all something to think about and THAT wasn't said very loudly in his case. And to bbot he got off with a slap on the wrist. I guess for going to child prostitutes (maybe) out of the country you don't get charged for it in the US because it was out of the country after all?

I guess all these comments are right in many ways, but to distort news mentioning that he was with children as a sex tourist, it`s not true. The DR has many escorts resorts offering adult women, and only the very darkest places will dare bring a child forward for such atrocity. You`d be doing 10 years in a stinky cell if you`re ever caught. rush was reportedly seen as a guest in one of the upscale places ( see www.charlisangels.com ) for instance. These girls displayed in that site are all adult women, no children. It seems Rush has many enemies, enough to spread the dirt into such sensitive areas such as children. Let`s be frank, most men like escorts and Viagra at one point in their lives.
